Publications on Tax Crimes & Procedure

Jack Townsend has the following recent publications:

Tax Crimes, co-authored with Larry Campagna, Steve Johnson and Scott Schumacher. Larry is a co-practitioner and Steve and Scott teach at law schools. This book is part of the LexisNexis Graduate Tax Series. For more information on this book click here.

Federal Tax Crimes, a book in pdf format, that Jack originally started for use in a course at University of Houston Law School where he and Larry Campagna teach Tax Fraud and Money Laundering. For that class, Larry and Jack now use the LexisNexis Tax Crimes book noted above. However, Jack continues to update the pdf Federal Tax Crimes book. Persons interested in using this book should be aware that (1) it is significantly larger than the LexisNexis book and covers more topics, (2) it is less suitable for a teaching environment than the LexisNexis book, and (3) it does not benefit from having multiple authors where concepts get sharpened from different points of view and experience. Subject to that caveat, the 2009 edition of that pdf book may be downloaded here. Please note that the book is available in three versions (footnoted, endnoted and without footnotes). Given how the book has evolved, we believe that the footnoted version would be most useful to practitioners.

Federal Tax Procedure, a book in pdf format that Jack uses for teaching a Tax Procedure course at the University of Houston Law School. This book also does not benefit from having multiple authors where concepts get sharpened from different points of view and experience. Subject to that caveat, the 2009 edition of that pdf book may be downloaded here. Please note that the book is available in three versions (footnoted, endnoted and without footnotes). We believe that the footnoted version would be most useful to practitioners.
